4th Pharmacy Game International Symposium – Global Pharmacy Practice

By Tanja Fens

On June 2–3, 2025, the Fourth Pharmacy Game International Symposium was held in Groningen, bringing together educators, students, researchers, and professional partners from around the world to explore the theme “Global Pharmacy Practice.”

Across two days, participants exchanged perspectives on pharmacy education and practice, engaged with simulation-based learning in the newly established Skills Lab Pharmacy, and reflected on the profession’s role in advancing environmental sustainability. In the Skills Lab, participants immersed themselves in simulations by taking on the role of patients and evaluating student performance, a hands-on experience that highlighted the pedagogical value of practice-based learning. The symposium also featured a student debate in which future pharmacists discussed environmental responsibility in healthcare, offering diverse viewpoints on the challenges and opportunities ahead. The symposium’s keynote sessions featured the teams behind the projects recognized with the KNMP Care Innovation Award 2025. Their presentations focused on the integration of FeNO testing in asthma care and on pharmacy assistant–led medication reviews, illustrating how practice-based innovations can strengthen patient care.

With contributions from universities across Europe and Australia, the symposium underscored a collective commitment to innovation, international collaboration, and the preparation of students for real-world pharmacy practice in a global healthcare landscape.
